I say to him "giddy-up"
and he stands on end
maybe horse feed was mixed up
or his teeth need mend

I say to him "whoa, horse"
and he jumps forward
gravel crushed by his hooves
like a colt bastard

no more will I speak to him
I will take a whip
crash and lash him, all grim
too old for his flip
