Under the Pont Neuf
black and white images pass
A black cat, a white cat
take shelter in a corner
waiting, shuddering.
Leaves, leaves are their eyes,
driven by the wind, they look at the town
their tails are castles,
framed like glasses within Louis XV’s frames.
Sleepy passers-by
Pick far-away noises.
No boat stops to pick them up.
White tailed Robespierre
teases Chat-noir,
the night is going to be a Renoir film.
All things will be wiped off by Guillotine boredom.
