Haunting memories

Sounds of laughter at last
But no! She realises fast
That was what she wanted to hear
Not this noisy cackle of birds near

Reality struck as she stood motionless
Knee deep with waves lashing merciless
Cowers inside her imaginary shell enslave
Pounded by the sea, wave after wave

Shivering in her dress wet and clinging
Like hurtful memories painfully stinging
Gazing at her sad past the sunset portray
Wishfully now appears slowly sinking away

Desperation gives way to hope in a flash
Will she be free, free and happy at last
But alas she knows there is no escape
For the sun will rise again no mistake

I like it. "The sun also rises", even for those with "haunting memories". Good job!
