Yearning

How much I miss you so dearly,
My angel that shines so clearly!
How I miss you, with my tears falling,
Watching still the path you're walking!
Day and night my heart is burning
Softly for your love returning.
Whispers rise where none can see.
Night and day, I call for thee
Precious treasure, rare and tender,
Where now shines your face of splendour?
Where’s your voice, so sweet, so near?
Where, my love, and why not here?
If the skies knew love’s devotion,
They would send your smile in motion.
If the stars could kindness show,
They would guide your kiss below.
But alas, the hours are flying,
Hours and days in silence dying.
Still my eyes see no relief,
For my soul is lost in grief.
Yearning burns like suns consuming,
Youth’s sweet flower barely blooming,
Yearning withers, longing sears,
All my heart has sown in tears.
