NEWBORN

Determined by genes unbeknownst,
Controlled by chemicals ever since,
Security of caul duly surrendered to
Greasy nakedness under a radiant warmer,
Palpating determinedly the new universe,
Before resigning to the alien tediousness.

Moulding by the environment awaits,
For the rush of emotions galore:
From faith, passion, hatred or indifference,
To any that will best steer the life ahead,
Germinated in innocence for an unknown harvest,
Regaining yet another caul to last until death.
