Christ crucified at dawn,
a week earlier, unshaved,
in dirty clothes, with
astonishment on his thin face,
surrounded by soldiers
in partially unfastened uniforms,
hastily nailed to the wood.
The passions of the Week were cancelled,
the gloom of Wednesday, the hatred of Friday,
the Lent retreat is stopped
and the mystic ascents of maturing
young men, we lost an opportunity
of seven days of ascetism, no time
for penanace, new holiday approaching
full of fires of unknown joy.
