PSALM

I will stop here where I heard
let there be light
and I didn’t catch the sight of the trembling reed
of the new beginning. And the Earth knew
and gave away spring.
Forests furrowed
from under eye-lashes ponds looked out
over the world flew
the blessings of a green light—
you took it as your own.
And yet
every mirror gives a reversed image
every water
also the one they christened you with
Do you remember?
It was the first time you looked into the eyes
of the truth—

it was
the sun limited by reason

it was
a name in the evening prayer

a star which fell into the sea
an expectation.
