My blood

This is my translation of „Moja krew” („My Blood”), a song of „Republika” - a Polish band playing New Wave. They started in 1980s in communist times and immediately reached the top of the lists of hits.
The leader and vocalist, Grzegorz Ciechowski, wrote nearly all of their famous hits.
„Moja krew” is my favourite.
Unfortunately, Grzegorz died in 2001, being only 44 years old.
With this translation I'd like to pay my tribute to him, as he was a great composer, poet and artist.

My blood
which stealthily flows in the depth of my body
hidden in the corridors of darkness
in alcohol in females' lips
my blood
under-skin lifetime measured in gallons
flowing one river into the sea of blood
my blood
frozen, sent and stored in blood banks,
the bankers transfer it on secret accounts
a secret weapon
my blood
a secret weapon made to – even better,
more beautifully – painlessly incorporate blood
my blood
drunk by priests at tribunes at plaforms at discreet talks
my blood
It is with my blood
that shout headlines of heaps of papers printed with blood
my blood
spluttered by the spreaker on screen
I count the footsteps of my blood
with my blood
a bit tipsy ladies gently tip us glasses in embasssies
Yes, it's my blood
with my blood
they signed war love truce peace sentence agreement a death cheque

It's my blood
and yours, too...
